10M BCSPL Recap

Coastal FC's 2010 Boys had a strong start by winning their first title at the BC Soccer Provincial Premier Cup against Surrey FC with a final score of 4-0. Coastal FC took the lead 1-0 through a fantastic first-time finish by Tejasveer Deol from a corner kick taken by Noah Owusu-Ansah. In the 22nd minute, our team extended the lead to 2-0 through a penalty kick taken by Edward Pritchard after a foul by Surrey FC's goalkeeper. In the second half, the boys continued their strong performance, with Noah Owusu-Ansah scoring on a great header in the 76th minute, which was assisted by Tyler Nielsen to make it 3-0. Followed by another setup by Noah Owusu-Ansah, Lucas Close was able to finish off a cross from Mohammad Usman Nawab, bringing the final score to 4-0. Head Coach Tino Sousa: “I am extremely proud of the boys for winning the Provincial Cup. We had a strong end to our season and were able to take that momentum into our Provincial cup run. The desire and hunger that all the players had helped us achieve our ultimate goal.”

10F BCSPL Recap

Simultaneously on Field 2, despite showing great determination and putting up a strong fight, Coastal FC narrowly missed victory, ending the game with a score of 0-1 against Surrey United. In the 32nd minute, Luca Mrsic had a great opportunity to make a run behind the opposition's back line. She chipped the ball over the goalkeeper but unfortunately hit the crossbar. In the 39th minute, Coastal FC had an opportunity to take the lead, but Ava Mears narrowly missed the bottom corner. As the team continued to push, they had a few more chances in the second half, but unfortunately, they could not convert. Head Coach Andrea Perrotta had some praise for the team, “Despite having a fantastic season, we fell short of winning the Provincial Cup for a second year. I couldn’t be any more proud of our players and we are already looking forward to having another go at it next year!”

09F BCSPL Recap

To conclude the 2024  BC Soccer Provincial Premier Cup, the Coastal FC 2009 girls faced off against North Vancouver FC. Despite being down early in the game, our girls showed incredible resilience and determination. The match remained intense, with our girls equalizing in the 77th minute through a remarkable corner kick by Izzy Benetti, finished by Morgan Cavezza. The game proceeded directly to penalty kicks after full-time. Coastal FC’s fearless goalkeeper, Ava Strauss, made an outstanding PK save, and Maya Galeas-Allen clinched the victory with the final PK into the bottom right corner. Our Coastal FC 2009 girls have earned their spot in the inaugural Player Development Championships, set to take place in Edmonton, AB, in August. Head coach Steven Duffy said: “We didn’t achieve the success we aimed for in the regular season. However, the team's resilience and determination during the Provincial Cup run was truly inspiring. We secured our place at the PDP National Championships with a strong performance against Surrey United in the semi-final. We followed that up with a victory in the final to claim our third provincial title in a row. I am extremely proud of the girls and can’t wait for August when they can showcase their abilities as they compete at Nationals.”

We want to thank all our players, coaches, staff, parents, families, and friends for their amazing support during the season. We hope all players have a fantastic summer, and we wish the best of luck to our three teams (07M Royal, 08M Royal & 10F White) participating in the BC Soccer Provincial B-Cup in Kamloops, BC. Once the B-Cup has concluded, a recap will be provided on Coastal FC's website.
