RADIO ANNOUNCEMENT!

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19, we are postponing the Coastal FC Blue and White night that has previously been scheduled for April 18th.
At this time a new date is not yet known. We will need to wait until there is clarity on when it is safe again. This will likely be in the fall of 2020.
Thank you very much for your support and understanding. We look forward to seeing you at our rescheduled date.
While the gala is a fundraiser, it is as much about getting together and building club and community culture. Some of the fun includes a champagne reception, fine dining, spirited live and silent auctions, followed by an evening of dancing and other entertainment. Last year's event featured a number of local celebrities, and political figures, and this year we anticipate another stellar line up of VIP’s.
Proceeds from the Blue and White Night will be directed towards the Coastal FC adaptive soccer program; Champions. This inclusive program is suitable for players from 7 to 17 years of age, with special needs. Delivered by professional coaches, in the state of the art BMO Coastal Soccer Centre, the Champions program is an exciting, fun filled, game based opportunity to get exercise, play soccer, and make some friends. With your help and generosity, it is our goal to make this program absolutely free for participants. We want to remove all boundaries to participation and, of course, cost is one. For more information on the program please CLICK HERE.
We invite you to consider supporting the Champions program this year, in one of the following ways:
-
Auction Donation: Donating items, services, or gift certificates for our Live and Silent Auctions.
-
Financial Sponsorship of the Gala: Different financial sponsorship levels available. .
-
Table Sponsorship: Purchasing a table. $1250 - gets you 10 of the best seats in the house, plus two bottles of wine.
-
Gala Attendance: Come and dance the night away, all for a great cause!
Do you have a business in the service industry and would you like to be a part of our event? Interested in volunteering to assist with planning, or on the night of the event? Please contact us HERE
Tickets for this event are only $95.00 each, and numbers are limited based on the capacity of the room.
On behalf of the Blue and White Night Gala Committee, and Coastal FC, we look forward to your involvement and are grateful for your contributions, partnership and support.

After piloting a ‘Training Player’ fee for this Spring season, we have come up with an option for our multi-sport players that we hope will make the life of a multi-sport parent much easier. 'Training Players’ can select one Skill Centre training session per week that works best with their busy schedule. They cannot play in league games but can register for tournaments.
As this program is aligned with Canada Soccer’s Grassroots Coach Education Program, which consists of four workshops, each workshop's in-person practical sessions typically last 2 to 4 hours. They will be facilitated by a designated Canada Soccer Learning Facilitator appointed by the workshop host (e.g., the PTSO, District, Club).
Travel may be required, as workshops can be regionally hosted by the PTSO, District or a Club. Coaches can choose a workshop date and location that best suits their schedule. If participating clubs have an embedded Learning Facilitator, they may have the option to deliver a Canada Soccer Grassroots Coach Education Workshop for their coaches. Alternatively, coaches are encouraged to attend a different workshop that aligns best with their schedule to achieve their Trained status.
Coastal FC does not have designated office hours. However, staff members may occasionally be present at the BMO Coastal Soccer Centre. You are welcome to approach them with questions, and they will do their best to assist you. In most cases, they will direct you to visit our website FAQ page or the Club Contacts page to connect with the appropriate staff member for further assistance.
All Coastal FC program registrations are managed through our Demosphere registration system.
Choose the correct registration link:
For new members, click HERE
For returning members, click HERE
Follow the instructions on each designated page to register via Demosphere.
If you have any questions, please read our Demosphere FAQ page.
Navigate to your My Account on the home screen by either tapping on the menu icon in the top right > Account or tapping the Account icon in the lower right.
On the MyAccount view tap on your household name.
On the My Household view tap on Add Member
Enter profile information for the new household member. The first and last name at minimum is required for adding a new household member. Tap save once complete. For tutorial view click HERE.
At Coastal FC, we’re committed to improving all of our programs through review, reflection & by gathering feedback from our members. The Skill Centre was a big change & with all changes comes some challenges. Many of these challenges have been logistics based & have been adjusted while in the flow of the program. Overall we’ve been very satisfied with the structure & execution of the program, while of course we strive to improve all aspects. Some other things that have been identified & will be amended ahead of the Fall are:
Ensuring roster sizes are at the lower end of what is recommended. Attendance was incredible, which wasn’t previously the case in our development program. We love the commitment of the players & families!
Longer periods before player movement - initially we spoke a lot about the fluidity of the rosters, which we know caused some stress/uncertainty. While our staff are constantly assessing players to ensure they are in the best environment possible for their development, we will only make changes after a cycle of 10 weeks moving forward. (Fall = 20 weeks, Spring = 10 weeks)
Staff Coach Involvement on Game Days - this one was addressed on a few occasions throughout the season but to clarify moving forward, our staff will be present at ALL home games. This can be in varying capacities; leading games as a head coach, spending time on the bench to support both players & our volunteer staff or observing games to look for technical trends, the transfer of learning from practice to games or generally assessing players.
If your questions haven’t been addressed in the FAQ, feel free to reach out to our Academy Manager, Nour Fathy, at nfathy@coastalfc.ca for assistance.
For questions regarding registration or Demosphere please review ourRegistration Info page & ourFAQ page before reaching out. If you still have questions please contact our Registrar Manager Erica Kerr at ekerr@coastalfc.ca.
In order to view a team that you are affiliated with, permissions to view the team must first be turned on by a Coastal FC administrator. Once access is granted, you will see your team on the Mobile App home screen or via the “My Teams” view. This view can be accessed using the top-level menu or on the app footer.
The best way to stay informed about Coastal FC club news is to ensure your Household Email in your Demosphere account email address is up to date.
Additionally, Coastal FC has a monthly newsletter; members are automatically subscribed but can unsubscribe from the newsletter at the bottom of the newsletter.
All online training modules can be completed asynchronously. However, coaches should be aware that certain online training modules, such as the Stage-appropriate Canada Soccer Grassroots Coach Education – Theory Module, must be completed before attending some in-person training sessions. Coaches are encouraged to complete their training at their own pace to achieve Trained Status and be eligible for coaching in the 2025 outdoor (September) season. If the club wishes to facilitate group training for their participants, they are welcome to do so at their discretion.
For questions regarding the U14-U18 BCSPL program, please contact Mark McQueen at mmqueen@coastalfc.ca
For questions regarding registration or Otto Sport please review our Registration Info page & our FAQ page before reaching out. If you still have questions please contact our Registrar Manager Erica Kerr at ekerr@coastalfc.ca

Yes, all players must be registered with BC Soccer. If you are not registered, you will need to pay a $34.00 per-player registration fee. If you are already playing outdoor soccer in a local league sanctioned by BC Soccer, you are already registered and insured and will not need to pay this additional fee.
Coaches must only complete the pre- and post-program evaluation for TELUS She CAN Coach. While there is no program evaluation for the Grassroots Coach Education Workshops, some Safe Sport Roster training modules (such as the Make Ethical Decisions and Respect in Sport courses) have their evaluation requirements.
You can provide feedback to Coastal FC via our Feedback Forms. Please visit the website here to fill out a feedback form.
Coastal FC is & has always been supportive of multi-sport athletes. We recognize the importance & benefits of experiencing other sports. We look for a 75% commitment to the Skill Centre program & will create individualized plans for families through open communication. Another way we help families to plan well in advance is that we set our schedule so that you know what the schedule is for your child throughout their journey with us.
If you have admin privileges within your household, you can add a new member (parent/guardian/grandparent/babysitter) to your household by navigating to:

Fall, Winter, and Spring Season Soccer is a recreational league designed for different age groups. The Indoor U5-U7 Recreational Program and U8-U18 Outdoor Recreational Teams typically have one practice and one game per week during the season, focusing on team-based play and competition within their age group.
Coastal FC Academy Programs, such as the U5-U7 Indoor Player Academy and U8-U13 Outdoor Player Academy, prioritize individual skill development. These programs group players by skill level rather than age or team, allowing for mixed-age training. Sessions are led by licensed professional coaches who provide specialized training to help players build skills and confidence that they can apply in their team play.
All program fees can be found on the Program drop-down website. All program fees include the $100.00 refundable Volunteer Bond and the $35.00 Facility Fee. You can find more information on registration by visiting our Registration Info page.

For U5-U7 parents/guardians, here's what you need to know about team building:
Coaching Staff: Each team is assigned a head coach (or co-coaches), assistants, and a manager, with up to 4 staff members per team. Female teams will include a female staff member.
Player Requests: Players can request to join friends or a specific team by the deadlines (May 15 for Fall, February 15 for Spring). Up to 75% of the team can be made up of these requests. Early registration increases the chances of getting your request.
Random Assignments: If no request is made, players will be randomly assigned to teams. New players will be placed accordingly.
Roster Balancing: Teams are balanced for competitiveness and roster size. Coaches can request players, but cannot exclude any.
Waitlist: If an age group reaches capacity, players may be offered a spot in an older group but will return to their correct age group in the following season. The waitlist will be prioritized based on the order of registration timestamps. Once all age groups are filled, players from the waitlist will be added as spots become available. Once the waitlist closes, refunds will be provided to players who cannot be placed.
For the full team-building guidelines, click HERE.

The Skill Centre Prep Academy is designed for players aspiring to advance into the Skill Centre Program. By training alongside peers of similar skill and motivation, players are provided with an environment that fosters growth and development, helping them prepare for the next step in their soccer journey. Additionally, our academy coaches work closely with the Skill Centre staff, maintaining regular communication to monitor and support player progress. This collaboration ensures players are well-positioned for potential entry into the Skill Centre Program.
Entry to the Skill Centre is by invitation only. As players near their U8 season, they are either invited to the program or can apply to be considered for entry. Our priority is the player & we need to ensure that each player is in an environment where they are challenged appropriately & will achieve success. There will be Skill Centre Open House sessions that are open to all players. These sessions will allow the Skill Centre staff the ability to assess the players for potential advancement.

The club operates a 6-7 month evaluation period starting in September and ending in February/March, depending on the age group. Player performance in training and games
between September and February/March is the most significant evaluation period. This period is the main opportunity for players to showcase their abilities and earn selection for the team for the following season.
The evaluation, selection and placement process is comprised of a combination of past and current season assessments by the player's Team Staff, other Team Staff within the age group, Club Technical Staff and a final Team Selection meeting.
The club operates a Player Placement Program for the purpose of identifying players prior to the post-season selection meetings. The process is as follows:
Step 1 – All Team and Club Staff coaches of all levels observe and make note of players demonstrating high-performance levels within their own environment from week to week.
Step 2 – Club Technical Staff will distribute a recommendations form for team coaches to complete.
● Division 3 coach recommends the best players to Division 2 coach
● Division 2 coach recommends the best players to Division 1 coach
Step 3 – Upon receiving a recommendation, coaches may invite recommended players into training sessions or games in order to assess their abilities for future entry to the level above.
Step 4 – If a player is considered suitable for the level above, they will be identified as a player who may potentially advance at the next entry point into the program.
Note: In exceptional circumstances, players may move up or down the player pathway mid-season. Mid-season movement is only sanctioned after the Club Technical Staff has assessed the organizational and logistical possibilities in addition to the impact on all parties.
1. The team coaches are responsible for evaluating and selecting the players within their age group over the 6-7 month period.
2. The club staff is responsible for managing the Player Placement Program, providing oversight of the evaluation process and the player selection decisions.
3. Team coaches are responsible for selecting the players; however, club staff must approve the final selections after they have verified the selections have been fair, honest and accurate.
Note: If necessary, club staff (as unbiased and independent evaluators) will challenge and overrule a coach’s selection if they are considered unfair, dishonest, or inaccurate.
For players new to the club or to the “Rep” level, if you haven’t attended an evaluation session yet, please fill out the form below to request an assessment.
Request Player Evaluation HERE
It is the club’s responsibility to ensure a fair, transparent, and honest process with respect to final player selections. As such, the Club Technical Staff will provide oversight of the entire process. This consists of:
1. Management of the Player Placement Program
2. Periodic observation of players during training sessions or potential games
3. Ongoing consultation with team coaching staff regarding player abilities
4. Facilitating selection meetings
5. Ensure evaluators are fair, honest and accurate by challenging and overruling selection decisions if necessary
6. Approval of final roster selections
While we may not all agree on the final selections, it is important to know that the Coastal FC goes to great lengths to ensure that the process is fair, transparent, and honest. We believe a 6-7 month evaluation of players through the Player Placement Program, coupled with strong leadership and oversight from our Club Technical Staff, allows the final selections to be as accurate as possible.
Player selections are somewhat subjective, and selection decisions are largely determined by opinion. Opinions often differ between coaches and parents, and rarely does everyone agree.
Decisions to select a player are based on a multitude of different perspectives, such as:
● Overall impact and influence on training and games
● Athletic ability
● Technical ability
● Tactical ability
● Attacking attributes
● Defensive attributes
● Positional attributes
● Attitude
● Attendance
● Positional needs of the team
● A combination of everything above
When players are similar in ability, the coach will often choose the player that possesses a slight advantage (in the coach’s opinion) in the specific individual attributes listed above or for specific positional needs of the team.
Example: Players may have a similar level of impact/influence during training or games, but their physical or technical abilities may be very different.
No, players do not get access to a rep team simply because their parent is on the team staff. Prior to the appointment of a coach, assistant or manager, the club determines the level of the player first. Only when the club is satisfied the player is suitable for the relevant level of play will the coaching staff be appointed.
Players have no restrictions on development opportunities due to their year of birth. In staying with our philosophy of doing "what is best for the player,” the club will consider the player's ability rather than their birth date.
Any player who believes that they have the ability to play at a higher level shall be provided the opportunity to go through a season-long evaluation process to determine this. If successful during the evaluation period, the Club Technical Staff will have the final say on whether playing up is in the best interests of the player after considering all factors. In short, if a player is good enough, they will be considered old enough. Advancement of younger players will consider:
1. Are they amongst the best 2-3 performers at tier 1 of an older age, or are they average performers at tier 1 of an older age?
2. Are they equipped physically, emotionally, and socially with respect to safety and interaction with peers?
3. Is it better to be an average player playing up or an impact player at their own age?
4. Does the environment provide the player with confidence, excitement, love of the game, and the ability to use technique, or is it simply a physical and technical battle to perform each week?
The timeline for completing the entire process can take between 3-7 days, depending on how many teams there are and if any unforeseen issues arise. The process is outlined as follows:
● Step 1 - Division 1 players will be offered spots approximately 24 hours after the final evaluation.
● Step 2 - Upon receiving the offer, Division 1 players will have 24 hours to accept a position on the team. Once all spots have been accepted we move to the next step.
● Step 3 - Division 2 players will be offered a spot after the completion of the Division 1 roster.
● Step 4 - Upon receiving the offer, Division 2 players will have 24 hours to accept a position on the team. Once all spots have been accepted, we move to the next step.
● Step 5 - If another team is to be created, the same process as above will apply.
● Step 6 - Once all team rosters have been completed, players who are not selected will receive a letter informing them.
The following information will be used by staff to form recreational teams, from U5 to U18. While every attempt will be made to apply these principles consistently, special consideration may be given, to extenuating circumstances, that are determined to be in the best interest of the player(s) in the age group.
While these steps may occur in different order, or even simultaneously, the same logic will apply. The sequence of these steps assumes that volunteers are in place and players register in a timely fashion, which may not always be the case. That said, best efforts will be made to follow these steps, in this order of process.
Team Building Process:
1. Coaches (Head Coach/Co-Coaches and Assistants) and Manager(s) will be assigned to the team
2. Team staff children automatically assigned to the team as follows: a. Maximum FOUR team staff (U5 to U18) - 1 head coach, 2 assistants, 1 team manager OR 2 co-coaches & a team manager. For female teams, a female representative must be included within the 4 team staff. 3. The remaining roster spots to be filled as follows:
a. Players added at THEIR request to play with friends or a specific team. The deadline for requests is May 15th for Fall Soccer and February 15th for Spring Soccer.
b. Teams will have no more than 75% of their roster built from requests, allowing a balanced allocation of new players to be shared amongst all teams. Once new players are placed, additional requests, above the 75% may be considered.
c. To ensure fairness, requests will be prioritized in the order they are received based on the timestamp of registration. Therefore, the earlier people register, the more likely it is that their request will be granted.
d. Please note that a team’s roster may fill prior to the season’s request deadline based on the timestamp of how many players have registered and requested a specific team. Some teams could potentially fill to the 75% capacity within the first couple days of registration being open.
e. If, at the time of registration, a player does not indicate a request, they will be randomly assigned to a team.
f. If no historical information is known about a player, at the time of registration, that player will be considered as “new”.
4. Coaches can request players up to the total number of staff positions allocated to their team. For example, a U8-U18 team can have up to 4 staff members. If the team only has 3 staff, the coach can request a 4 th player, even though that player is not related to a member of the team’s staff.
5. Coaches CAN NOT request that a player is NOT included on their team. If there is a concern about the suitability of a player, the team staff shall make this known, in writing, by June 30 th (fall) or February 15 th (spring) and the club staff will evaluate the merit of the request and make a decision.
Additional Information:
Team building is meant achieve the following objectives:
Place friends with friends or familiar team staff
Create balanced teams both competitively and in roster size
Roster sizes are set by the club; however, it may be possible to exceed the suggested roster size. Coaches can make a request; however, it will be subject to approval. Such approval will be evaluated based on all teams in the age group and not specifically the team. For example, a roster of 12, will not be allowed to go to 13 players, if there are other teams with fewer players, whose rosters are not fully built out. That player will be offered to a team with space on their roster, prior to allowing another team to exceed their suggested roster size.
Rosters are built and players are offered spots by the club and not the team coaches. Coaches should avoid having discussions directly with players about joining their team as this causes confusion, if the club decides to place the player on a different team.
When an age group is waitlisted, players may be offered a spot in an older age group (space permitting). This is used as a last resort to allow players to play, but is not considered to be used as an opportunity to play at an older level. It is purely to remove players from the waitlist. Requests to stay “playing up” will not be considered and players will be reverted to their proper age group in future seasons.
