SMALL-SIDED
REFEREE CLINIC

Program Description: To identify and recognize individuals within the club that have shown an interest in becoming a Referee. This is the first step within the club on the path towards becoming a Registered Referee. This will allow you to Referee inside a very safe and controlled environment to start while we support you and help you along your journey whatever that may be.


This is open to all who wish to attend however it is geared towards the 11-14 year olds as the games they would be assigned would be small sided U8-U13 games. Parents, Coaches, Managers all welcome to attend as observers if they wish.


Process and how to register: Register by filling out this form: https://forms.gle/x3Wkhn4zWVq3hYmm8 and committing to the date we have set aside to teach this course. Keep in mind that attendance for the entire course is appreciated to be considered to Referee. If you cannot stay the entire time please consider another opportunity in the future when you are able to do so.


Registrations will be cutoff at 50 participants.


Format: You will be taught the Laws of the Game in person in a few different formats that engage and encourage understanding and growth on a different side of the ball. There will be lots of video work, pop quizzes, practical and technical modules. This course will be taught in a one day 6 hour model that will have you prepared to step on to the field the following day to start your careers.


When: February 23 rd from 9:00-4:30pm (Non-Instructional day at school)


Where: Rotary Field House inside South Surrey Athletic Park, 2197 – 148 th Street, Surrey, BC, V4A 9P5


What to wear: Dress in athletic gear that will allow you to be comfortable inside and outside as this course will go on rain or shine. Bring a pair of cleats as well as we will be on the grass going through the practical side of the course.


Cost: Free to Coastal FC Families


Lunch and Snacks: Please pack a light lunch and snacks to get you through the day. Lunch will more than likely be done while we work through the course to save time. Please only pack water and peanut free options just in case. Treat it like a school day.


Pick up and Drop off: This will be done at the front of the Rotary building to the side of the parking lot near field #9 and located right beside the play ground. Candidates are to arrive 15 minutes before the course starts as doors will be shut come 9am to avoid disturbances. We will be done by 4:30 pm sharp so please arrive in a timely manner to collect your loved one.
