Coastal FC was out in full force at the Provincial Championships, with our teams going head-to-head with top competition from across BC. From lifting a provincial trophy to grinding through some really tough, hard-fought matches, our players gave it everything they had and represented the club with pure heart and outstanding sportsmanship every step of the way.

2010F Royal (A-Cup) Crowned Provincial Champions

The 2010F Royals put together an unforgettable Provincial A-Cup run, lifting the trophy without conceding a single goal the entire tournament. They kicked things off with a tight 1–0 win over CMFSC, where Karina Dhatt coolly buried a 25th-minute penalty, and defenders Lexi Edwards and Emma Henderson came up with huge goal-line clearances to lock down what Coach Kemp called "A hard-fought battle and a positive result." The offence blew things open in Game 2 with a 5–0 win over Kamloops United FC featuring two goals from Karina Dhatt, a give-and-go finish by Aria Pound, a comeback goal from Kalaya Jope, and a beauty into the top corner by Shenelle D’Souza, leaving Coach Kemp saying, "I am super proud of the girls." A 0–0 draw against Victoria Gorge gave them the point they needed to reach the final, setting up a rematch with CMFSC 2010G. Dhatt got Coastal on the board early in the 10th minute, and twin sisters Kalaya and Zahra Jope put the game away in the 82nd minute with a gorgeous give-and-go and chip over the keeper to seal the 2–0 win. Reflecting on the journey, Coach Kemp shared, "We’ve battled some real adversity this year, and the girls have rallied around each other for support and grown both as players and as people. Provincial Champions is a well-earned title for an amazing group of girls."

2012F Royal (A-Cup) Finished 4th in the Province

The 2012F Royals went toe-to-toe with the province’s best to earn a fourth-place finish in the A-Cup. After a tricky start and a 2–0 loss to Saanich Fusion FC, the team put together a great second half, prompting Coach Picher to say, "We live to battle another day!" Up against a strong Okanagan FC squad next, they fell 7–0, but the girls never stopped competing until the final whistle. Coach Picher captured the team's spirit best, saying, "Some of our greatest lessons come from our toughest defeats. Today, we left the field with smiles on our faces, grace in our hearts, and the determination to come back stronger."

2012F White (B-Cup) Finished 8th in the Province

The 2012F White team showed incredible grit and heart throughout a demanding B-Cup run. They opened against Okanagan FC White, creating plenty of good second-half chances but ultimately falling 3–0 off set pieces, prompting the Head Coach Lashkari to share, "Well done on a competitive game. We created plenty of chances, but we need to improve our defending on set pieces." Game 2 was a thriller against KESA: after an early deficit, Jordyn Alexandrovich (24') and Grace Sherrif (35') fought hard to bring Coastal back into it, only for a tough, questionable call in the final minute to give KESA a 3–2 win. Rather than letting the heartbreak linger, the coach rallied the team: "This is a difficult loss to accept, especially the way it ended, but we can’t let it define us." Taking those words to heart, the girls responded in Game 3 with a massive 4–0 shutout against pool-leading PGYSA Impact. Breaking the ice in the 22nd minute and pouring on three second-half goals to hand PGYSA their first loss, earning high praise from Coach Lashkari: "Well done, girls; you should be very proud! You deserved this win!" In their final placement match against Okanagan United, the team answered an early 1st-minute goal with an equalizer in the 22nd minute. They controlled most of the second half and hit the post multiple times, but a counterattack in the 52nd minute led to a heartbreaking 2–1 loss. Gathering the group after the final whistle, Head Coach Lashkari proudly thanked the girls for their relentless work ethic, tremendous heart, and never-say-die attitude throughout the tournament.

A massive congratulations to all of our players, coaches, and supporting families for a fantastic provincial run. We could not be prouder of how every single athlete represented Coastal FC on and off the pitch.
