As we approach the weekend and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we want to remind all club members that all programs, including training on Monday, September 30, will proceed as scheduled from September 28 to 30.
On September 30, 2024, Coastal FC commemorates the fourth National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day is a national movement and annual event in Canada. During this day, Indigenous and non-Indigenous people come together in the spirit of hope and reconciliation to honour residential school survivors, their families, and communities.
We invite all club members to wear orange for warmups on September 28 and 29 and for training on September 30. League uniform rules will apply during games, but optional ribbons will be available at SSAP for players who wish to wear them. This gesture is in recognition of the tragic history of residential schools and to honour the survivors.
We hope these resources will allow our players, their families, coaches and staff to reflect on and gain a deeper understanding of Truth and Reconciliation Day.
