Coastal Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Antonio Hurtado-Coll to the position of Referee Manager at the club.

Antonio takes over the position from Igor Cvetkovski who has now moved to a full time referee development position with BC Soccer. Antonio comes to Coastal FC having spent almost 10 years as a provincial referee, and is currently an accredited instructor and assessor within the province of British Columbia. Since arriving in Canada, Antonio has spent time working for BC Soccer as a referee and assessor in the BC Soccer Premier League, in addition to refereeing at grassroots and adult levels.

As the number of players and coaches continues to grow, the club has increased staffing resources and programs to focus on player development and coach education with the aim of enhancing the overall soccer experience of our membership. However the club also recognizes the significant role that a strong refereeing program also plays in the experience our players, coaches, and parents have come game day. As such, Antonio’s role at the club will not only see him responsible for developing the existing referee program and the referees within it, but he will also be responsible for improving the education, development and retention of young referees coming through the system.

Coastal FC Technical Director, Mark McQueen, commented, “We are thrilled to have brought an individual of Antonio's credentials and experience to the club. He comes to us with a fantastic reputation for developing referees, and his experience working with referees in Grassroots and High Performance environments speaks for itself. Antonio will be a great asset in the development of our referees and we are certain that those fortunate enough to work with him will experience an excellent developmental environment”.

Coastal FC Executive Director, Chris Murphy, commented, “We would like to extend our gratitude to Igor Cvetkovski for his effort and commitment over the past 2 years, and wish his the best of luck in his new position at BC Soccer. We are delighted to have secured the services of Antonio who will have the opportunity to build upon the great foundation developed by Igor. Not only is Antonio’s appointment an indication of the importance the club places in developing our referees, but it also demonstrates Coastal’s commitment to improving the overall soccer experience for our members”.
