Coastal FC Announces BCSPL Intake Coaches

2007-born BCSPL Season Starting September 2019

Coastal Football Club is delighted to announce the appointments of Jorge Molina as head coach of the 2007 born BCSPL Girls intake team, and Dhani Sharma as head coach of the 2007 born BCSPL Boys team. Both coaches will spend time working in the Coastal BCSPL Academy over the course of the season where they will have the opportunity to work with and scout potential players for their respective groups. In addition, they will also visit our regional partners (North Delta, South Delta United, and Surdel) games and training sessions, and will bring the collective partner players together periodically throughout the season.

Jorge holds a CSA National B coaching license and has been a BCSPL and academy coach at Coastal FC for the past 3 years. During his time working in the BCSPL, Jorge developed his previous 2004 intake group to become U13 provincial champions in 2017, and provincial runners up in 2018. In addition to his success in developing young players at Coastal, Jorge’s coaching experience includes 6 years as Technical Director of South West United Soccer Club in Edmonton, Alberta. Furthermore, Jorge also spent time working for the Alberta Soccer Association as the head coach of the Provincial Team Program for both girls and boys.

Coastal FC is thrilled to assign a coach of Jorge's caliber into an age group where players are experiencing the BCSPL level of play for the first time and transitioning to the 11-a-side game. He has played a significant role in developing his previous intake group into some of the best young female players in British Columbia, many of whom have advanced to Provincial and Whitecaps REX programs. His coaching experience from grassroots to high performance levels will be of significant benefit in the development of this intake group. We are certain that those fortunate enough to be selected will feel extremely privileged to work with Jorge in what will be a top class developmental environment.

Dhani Sharma has also obtained his CSA National B coaching license, and has been coaching for several years in the lower mainland. He currently coaches teams in the VMSL U21 league, U18 in the Metro Selects League, and is in the process of adding to his certification by completing his USSF D-National License. Dhani was successful in using his coaching knowledge and experience to guide his team to the VMSL U21 provincial championship in 2016. From a playing perspective, Dhani is a former Coastal FC player from the clubs old Super Y-League program, and he later advanced to university soccer with Capilano Blues and Kwanten Eagles.

Coastal FC is extremely happy to have secured the services of one of the most sought after youth coaches in the soccer community. Dhani's involvement with the club ensures the delivery of an excellent developmental environment for young aspiring players. His playing experience at youth, and adult levels, combined with his ability to connect with young players and deliver knowledge as a coach is among the best around. Those selected will benefit greatly from Dhani's knowledge, experience, and development first approach.

Mark McQueen, Technical Director of Coastal FC said, "We are delighted to have secured two of the most progressive coaches available within the soccer community, both of whom have a great track record of developing young players and advancing them to higher levels of the game. Jorge and Dhani are seen as two of the best technical coaches in the system having gained many modern coaching methods from their experiences inside and outside of Canada. Their appointment ensures our intake players will be provided the best possible opportunity to succeed in achieving their goals in the sport. Appointing coaches with their ability and experience, is an example of our commitment to excellence, and also why Coastal Football Club, with the support of our regional partners North Delta, South Delta United and Surdel, is recognized as a leader in player development”.
