Aly Hay Commits to Washington State University

Coastal FC is thrilled to announce that our 2001 Girls BCSPL goalkeeper Aly Hay has recently committed to Washington State University on a soccer scholarship. “I am very excited to commit to WSU,” said Hay. “I chose Washington State because of the high quality of their program and the way they treat their athletes. I am really looking forward to playing in the PAC12 for the Cougars in my College

Hay helped guide her Coastal FC team to an undefeated season, which saw the team allow only 7 goals in 17 games as well as claim the BC Soccer Provincial Premier Cup. She credits her teammates and coaches to her success. “My time at Coastal has been nothing but a positive experience. I have been lucky to be a part of a truly special team of players and coaches, without them I

wouldn’t be the player or person I am today”.

Head coach Bob Birarda emphasized his pleasure of being a part of Aly’s development through her years at Coastal FC. “Aly has been a fantastic teammate and significant part of this team,” said Birarda.

“She is incredibly gifted, athletic, and talented. The fact that programs of Washington State's standard were so interested in her is such a credit to the work she has put in every day.”

“Coach Todd and his staff worked hard to stay in touch with the club and managed to monitor her development over months in games and training,” said Birarda. “Now, with the great coaching staff there, the quality conference they play in, and being so close to home, this choice just seems like such a great fit.”

Hay has been apart of the BC Soccer High Performance Program, and represented Canada at the U15 and U17 national team level as well.

Aly follows in the footsteps of previous Coastal FC players such as Nicole Setterlund, Katie Turney, Technical Staff Coach Gurveen Clair and most recently Shanya Dhindsa, who have also gone on to play for Washington State University.

We all wish to congratulate Aly and look forward to watching her play for Washington State in the years to come.
