The BMO Coastal Soccer Centre is scheduled to open for play in the spring of 2019. This brand new, indoor facility is one of the only facilities of its kind in the lower mainland, owned and operated by a club (Coastal FC). This $5 million state of the art indoor soccer facility provides the best possible environment for footballing excellence within the province. With weather elements being identified as a major barrier to player development in Canada, the BMO Indoor Soccer Centre is the largest purpose built facility of its kind in the lower mainland and sets a new standard for player development facilities within the country. The inspirational environment, which is free from the harsh elements of the Canadian weather, allows Coastal to focus on a player development strategy that aims to produce the next generation of high performance, professional, and national team players. The combination of FIFA approved 3G turf, indoor training, professional coaching, and an innovative curriculum creates a developmental experience like no other.
Introductory Goalkeeper Academy
The Coastal FC Beginner Goalkeeping Academy aims to introduce local players to goal keeping skills and help them reach their potential.
The mission of the goalkeeping Academy is to provide excellence in pursuit of development. Our development model allows us to teach, improve, and perfect technical and tactical aspects of the game, without detracting from fun and enjoyment of playing the greatest game on earth. Every player will come away accepting the importance of hard work, healthy living, team concepts and will understand the importance of having fun every time they step on the field.
The Coastal Goalkeeping Academy welcomes ambitious players of all abilities; our priority is to ensure development of every player attending the academy.
Intermediate Goalkeeper Academy
The Intermediate Goalkeeping Academy aims is for those players that have taken an interest in goaltending, and wish to further develop their skills in this area. The program is geared towards House, Development and Prospect goalkeepers. Goalies will be taught how to improve, and perfect technical and tactical aspects of the game. Goalkeepers will train in a pay per use Academy environment 1 time per week. Players will be supported by professional coaching staff that will cover the 4 main pillars of development: technical, tactical, physical, and psychological. This will cover the main techniques and skills of goalkeeping: goalkeeping specific warm ups, handling, footwork, diving, shot stopping, one v one, crossing and dealing with high balls, dealing with the back pass and distribution from hands and feet. These topics will be covered in realistic match related sessions.
Advanced Goalkeeper Academy
The advanced goalkeeper academy is geared towards BCSPL, Rep, development and prospect goalkeepers. Goalkeepers will train in a pay per use academy environment 1 time per week. Players will be split into groups consistent with their ability/level, BCSPL, Divisional and minis. Players will be supported by professional coaching staff that will cover the 4 main pillars of development: technical, tactical, physical, and psychological. This will cover the main techniques and skills of goalkeeping: goalkeeping specific warm ups, handling, footwork, diving, shot stopping, one v one, crossing and dealing with high balls, dealing with the back pass and distribution from hands and feet. These topics will be covered in realistic match related sessions.
The goal of the High Performance Academy is to help develop and continue to grow goalkeepers through the stages of learning. This is focused on the high performance player who wants to continue to excel in their primary position as a goalkeeper. The aims of the academy will be to improve technique through simple, realistic practice, give the goalkeeper the tools in the box” they require to be a successful, consistent, reliable performer, to develop movement skills and patterns specific to goalkeeping, and to help with decision making and other psychological aspects of the position. The experience gained from attending High Performance Goalkeeping Academy will properly prepare players for the transition into the high performance levels of programming within the club.
Dates: Monday April 15th- June 24th no sessions April 22nd (Easter), May 20th.
