Our U5-U7 Indoor Recreational/House soccer program is a beginner to intermediate program for players aged 4-6 years old, led by Certified Volunteers Coaches focussed on providing an excellent experience/environment by ensuring that safety, organization, structure and fun/enjoyment exists for both players and coaches. The environment created will provide an opportunity for players to develop technical ability, comprehension of team play and formations, and individual Speed, Agility and Quickness (SAQ). For U5-U7 parents/guardians, here's what you need to know about team building:
Coaching Staff: Each team is assigned a head coach (or co-coaches), assistants, and a manager, with up to 4 staff members per team. Female teams will include a female staff member.
Player Requests: Players can request to join friends or a specific team by the deadlines (May 15 for Fall, February 15 for Spring). Up to 75% of the team can be made up of these requests. Early registration increases the chances of getting your request.
Random Assignments: If no request is made, players will be randomly assigned to teams. New players will be placed accordingly.
Roster Balancing: Teams are balanced for competitiveness and roster size. Coaches can request players, but cannot exclude any.
Waitlist: If an age group reaches capacity, players may be offered a spot in an older group but will return to their correct age group in the following season. The waitlist will be prioritized based on the order of registration timestamps. Once all age groups are filled, players from the waitlist will be added as spots become available. Once the waitlist closes, refunds will be provided to players who cannot be placed.

For U5-U7, teams will play in our Internal Coastal Recreational House League. Realizing that the teams may not always be perfectly balanced, our Coastal FC coaches work with the volunteer coaches to ensure that games are managed and kept close in score so that the soccer environment is an enjoyable one for all players involved. If you do notice that there is a coach that is not following this policy, please make sure to contact the Technical Lead for the program. Coastal FC is committed to providing a fun and inclusive environment for all of our players.
All U5-U7 Indoor Recreational Teams are coached by Certified Parent Volunteer Coaches (After completing a criminal record check) who receive extensive support from Coastal FC.
Prior to the start of the season, free coaching clinics are offered to our coaches that are delivered by our Licensed Professional Coaching Staff. Additionally all training sessions will be organized and managed by the club Technical Staff, and volunteer coaches will receive weekly session plans and assistance on the field for all training sessions throughout the course of the season.
The goal of the curriculum that has been developed for this program is to make all sessions fun and interactive for all players with a focus on Technical Development and Fundamental Movement Skills, through age-appropriate activities. Respective age groups follow recommendations from Learning to Train & the Soccer For Life stages of LTPD (Long Term Player Development).
No extensive soccer experience is required to coach! If you are interested in coaching, please reach out to Lindsay Zygarliski at lzygarliski@coastalfc.ca and specify the age group you would like to coach.
Player team placement is done on a "first received, first placed" basis. We attempt to place players based on requests, but this is not guaranteed. Please review our Team Building policy HERE for more information.
Team Coaches/Managers will contact players with the practice schedule and other details once teams have been formed in March for the Spring Season & August for the Fall Season.
Placement on a Coastal FC team is subject to full payment, and registration is being completed through Demosphere.
A coach will contact you with all the team details. If you have not been contacted by the start of the season, please contact Lindsay Zygarliski U5-U7, our Indoor Programs Manager.
Player requests for friends, teams or coaches cannot be accommodated after the registration process has been completed. Additionally, email requests sent to program managers regarding team or coach assignments/requests will not be accepted. Due to the size of our club, we are unable to track or monitor individual email requests for team placements.
Fall/Winter: Dress in layers with a thermal base layer, training or rain jacket, gloves, toque (hat), or neck gaiter. Add soccer training pants or shorts to stay warm. For more tips on how to dress for soccer in any season, watch our Essential Gear Video! It will help you stay prepared and comfortable for every training session.
Spring/summer, players should wear a jersey or training jacket, soccer training pants or shorts, and bring a water bottle.
Soccer cleats and a pair of shin guards are required for all programs unless otherwise noted. Fall and Spring League registration fees include club jerseys, shorts and socks, depending on the programs.
All players keep their jerseys at the end of the season. Coastal FC has an online store to purchase additional pairs of socks, additional shorts and other Coastal FC player wear and fan wear. Click HERE to purchase.
Any refunds request must be requested via the Coastal FC Refund Request Form. Any emails regarding refunds will receive a response directing you to complete the Coastal FC Refund Request Form.
Refunds will not be evaluated unless the official request form is submitted. Submitting a refund request does not guarantee a refund, as all requests are evaluated based on our refund policy.
