PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Coastal FC is excited to offer an inclusive soccer program for children with disabilities. Coastal FC’s Champions Program is offered to boys and girls who are 7 to 18 years of age and is suitable for all participants with special needs. This program will be led by professional coaches/staff and Volunteer Junior Coaches who will provide a supportive and passionate environment for participants to have fun and develop their soccer skills. Our Volunteer Junior Coaches will provide participants with one-on-one support as “Big Buddies”.


Champions Program will have a primary focus on individual participation where each participants along with their “Big Buddy” are able to participate in different stations. Some of our exciting stations will include dribbling and relays, passing competition with targets, a shooting station to score as many goals as you can or a games field station to play against other participants! Individuals can choose to stay at one activity for the duration of the session or move from one station to the next. Our main goal is to ensure that all members in the community have an opportunity to participate in their favourite sport!


PROGRAM DETAILS: Participants aged 7-18 years old (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002)


  • One indoor training session each week lead by Professional Coaches & Staff

  • “Big Buddies” Junior Coaches providing one-on-one support for all participants

  • Parent participation may/may not be required; however, parents must remain present at all times.

  • All Champions Participants will receive an official t-shirt

  • Minimal equipment required (We will have all equipment); appropriate running shoes or soccer cleats only; shin guards are recommended but not required.

LOCATION: BMO Coastal Soccer Centre, South Surrey Athletic Park

DURATION: The spring program will run from the week of May 3rd, 2020 through to the week of June 14th, 2020; with breaks during traditional holiday breaks. ​

Volunteers - What do you need to be a ‘Big Buddy'?

  • You must be 15 years of age or older in the year 2020

  • Available to attend all sessions (each session is approx 1 hour in length) If you cannot attend a session, we must be notified well in advance so that we have ample time to find a replacement for that day. These children require stability therefore if prior to the start of the program, you know that you will miss 4 or more sessions maybe this isn't the volunteer opportunity for you.

  • Must be outgoing, energetic, patient and be open to having lots of fun
